Agency Services

A comprehensive network to help you regain your life.

A victim of domestic and sexual violence suffers more than physical abuse. Imagine being totally under the control of another person - a person you loved. They may force sex on you, control all the money, keep you from having a job, turn your children against you blackmail you with lies, or isolate you from all of your friends and family. They may do all of this and worse, making you a virtual slave in your own home. Through much hardship, and after many sleepless nights you break free, seeking safety from retribution.

You are in a shelter, and safe from immediate harm, but that's about it. Safe but homeless, without money or employment, with children who need attention and care. Nightmares of the life you fled are still with you, and the emotional damage is terrible. You feel less like a slave, but more like a refugee.

This example is replayed countless times, and is why the Women's Shelter of South Texas offers a wide range of services to help our clients regain control of every aspect of their lives. These services are free and available to residential and non-residential clients, female and male.
