Hotline:
The agency's hotline is answered in person 24 hours a day every day of the year. Volunteers utilize active listening skills to assist clients and provide referrals when appropriate.
Youth Services:
Volunteers are necessary to keep the many children the agency serves busy and happy. Volunteers read to the children, assist with arts and crafts, play games, and provide childcare so mom can attend group counseling or parenting courses. Kids Camp utilizes many volunteers (including teenagers, 16 and up) each summer to provide children with activities that educate as well as entertain.
Rape Crises Services:
Volunteers are utilized as advocates providing 24-hour response to sexual assault victims at the local rape trauma center. Volunteers provide victims support, information regarding agency services, and advocacy for the client throughout the criminal justice process.
Donation Room:
Volunteers are of great assistance in the agency's donation room. Donated items must be sorted on a regular basis, clothes folded/hung up, and household items kept organized. This is a never-ending endeavor that is always in need of volunteers.
Court Accompaniment:
The legal system can be daunting. Volunteers accompany clients to court to be a support during the legal process.
Special Events:
Groups such as the Boy Scouts, church organizations, etc., may present an idea or project they wish to perform for the agency. If your group, organization, or business has an interest in assisting the agency please contact the volunteer coordinator at 361/881-8888. |
